Different sized breasts
In principle, all women have different sized breasts to some extent, or what we call breast asymmetry.
If there is a great difference in size between the breasts, this may cause problems. It can cause physical problems in the form of a lopsided load on the back, which may lead to back problems.
There are often cosmetic problems involved in having clearly different sized breasts. In a few cases the shape of the breasts may be undesirable and be either pointed or sagging. This may be corrected through breast plastic surgery.
If the smaller breast is the size you want, then we reduce and lift the larger breast and only perform a lift on the smaller breast.
If, on the other hand, you think the larger breast has the volume you want, we can enlarge the small breast using a prosthesis. If you would like to increase the volume of both breasts, we can choose different sizes of prostheses to correct the asymmetry. If you are satisfied with the shape of your breasts, the incision can be made in your armpit.
This will be tested carefully at the consultation before the operation and you will, of course, have the chance to decide a great deal yourself.
The operation is carried out under a general anaesthetic and the patient stays overnight at the clinic. Time off work is two to four weeks.
