Breast enlargement
If the breasts do not develop enough during puberty or the breasts have become small and flabby after one or more pregnancies, this can be remedied through breast enlargement plastic surgery.
The number of breast enlargements performed is increasing every year. Not just in Sweden but also in other parts of the world. The results are getting better and better and the number of complications has reduced. This is because, today, we opt to place the implant under the breast muscle, which has led to the number of hard or incorrectly shaped breasts almost disappearing. We usually use implants filled with the new non-liquid silicon, so-called jelly implants.
If the patient would like another type, such as saline implants, this type can be used as long as it will not significantly impair the result.
The incision is often made at the top of the armpit as this leaves an almost invisible scar. But, in some cases, we may even decide to put the incision in the fold under the breast.
You can also be involved in deciding on the shape and size. During the consultation at the consultation room, a thorough examination and measurement of the breasts and chest wall is carried out, after which suitable sizes and shapes are recommended. After this, you can relatively freely choose within certain intervals, where the dimensions of the chest and chest wall are the limiting factors both upwards and downwards in size.
The operation is performed under a general anaesthetic and takes about an hour. Most people remain overnight at the clinic to get help with pain relief when it is at its most intensive.
At the beginning, the breasts feel hard but they gradually soften. You should expect not to be able to work for just over a week.
There is an appointment to have the stitches removed and a check-up after two weeks. A final assessment is carried out three months after the breast enlargement operation.
