Breast reduction
Large, heavy and pendulous breasts may lead to pain, aches and a feeling of tiredness in the neck and shoulder areas.
This may, of course, also contribute to difficulties finding clothes that fit and an inability to participate in sports and other physical activities. Avoiding certain situations and isolating yourself socially can frequently lead to psychological problems.
Due to the pronounced difficulties that large breasts can lead to, Region Skåne has an agreement with us, which means that we assess, operate and perform after-care for this patient group, which then only pays the normal county council fee.
Certain requirements must be satisfied in order to be approved for a breast reduction operation and this is determined during a visit to the doctor at the consultation room.

The operation takes about two hours and the patient is given a general anaesthetic for the operation. The breasts are reduced in size, the nipples are moved up and surplus skin is removed.
Most patients stay overnight at the clinic following the breast reduction operation but this is not always necessary. A firm bra is used as a dressing for four weeks.
After two weeks, the patient returns for a check-up and any stitches are then removed. The normal period for being off work sick is three to four weeks and, after three months, there is a final check-up at the consultation room.
