Liposuction
Liposuction, or what is often called liposculpture nowadays is most suitable for patients who are of a somewhat normal weight but who have undesirable localised surpluses of fat which may be both genetic and hormonal.
Developments within the area of liposuction have moved rapidly as in other areas of cosmetic plastic surgery. Nowadays, relatively thin drains are used, compared with a few years ago. In addition, today we use much larger quantities of diluted local anaesthetic fluid than before.
Overall, this means that most areas of the body can be treated with insignificant bleeding and bruising and, in most cases, very even and good results.
For this reason, the name, sculpting, has become more relevant than the earlier term, liposuction.
The procedure is carried out under a light general anaesthetic and local anaesthetic and takes between one and two hours.
In most cases, it will be perfectly fine to go home the same day.
